Laura Niver, Psy.D.

licensed clinical psychologist

My approach is guided by compassion and curiosity. Together, we will explore your unique story, identify the coping strategies in your life that may no longer be serving you, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others.

I have over 10 years of clinical experience. Prior to starting my practice, I worked with people from many different backgrounds in a variety of settings. Most recently, I served active duty military personnel in an outpatient clinic at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Prior to this, I spent several years as a staff psychologist at Saint Elizabeths Hospital, working with individuals with serious mental illness. I have also worked with individuals across the lifespan—in community mental health clinics, inpatient psychiatric facilities, college counseling centers, and the VA. All of these experiences inform who I am as a psychologist and what I bring to the work I do now.

I earned my doctorate from the University of Denver. My practice is located in downtown Washington, DC. I am also authorized to practice tele-psychology in most states under PSYPACT.

Outside of my therapy practice, I love cycling, cooking, baking, and exploring new places both near and far.

Sometimes, it is only in the hands of another that a memory can be fully encountered.
